Ok, I have a great recipe for all of you Pagans and non-Pagans alike who are into herbalism. It is such a simple recipe, but my experience of it has been excellent. I was reminded of it last night because I've got the start of a chesty cough and cold and I knew I would find it difficult to get to sleep because of this. This tea is excellent - please try it and feel free to let me know what you think! It works for me, did it work for you?
Soothing Sleep Tea
1 level teaspoon dried Eyebright
1 level teaspoon dried Goldenrod
1/2 level teaspoon dried Valerian
Honey to taste.
Put the dried herbs in a tea cup (not a mug) and cover with just boiled water to the top of the cup. Stir three times and then leave to infuse for 15 minutes. Strain into a clean cup and add honey to taste. Drink half an hour before bed.
This eases upper respatory tract infections, sore throats and aids a restful sleep. It isn't a miracle to make you instantly better (wow - now that would be good), but it will help you to get to sleep, which is nature's best healer, without the use of chemical preparations.
N.B. Please note that this is not intended to be used over a long period as Valerian can cause depression if used continuously. Also, if your symptoms do not ease in a day or two, or get worse - please do not use this as an alternative to consulting your doctor.
